โ๏ธ In this blog, Iโll take you through my green adventures of May: from the first warm days and a bit of sun stress at the office, to my annual repotting ritual at home and a fresh start in the mini-greenhouse. ๐ฑ Discover how the sunflowers are already sprouting and how a little sunshine can work wonders for both your plants – and your mood!
Hi everyone!
Itโs finally hereโฆ the sun! โ๏ธ After what felt like an endless cycle of grey skies and rainy days, weโve finally had our first real warm days of the year – and wow, did we need them! In the Netherlands, we say: โIn mei legt elke vogel een ei,โ which roughly means that May is the time everything comes to life – and that definitely holds true this year.
Sunshine Struggles ๐ฟ๐
While the sunshine has been amazing for us, our little office plants had a bit of a rough time. The sudden heat took its toll, and unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to our watercress – it just couldnโt handle the intense sun and didnโt make it. RIP, little green friend. ๐ง๐ฑ
Repotting Rituals at Home
Itโs not just at the office where plants play a big role in my life – my home is filled with green roommates too! Once a year, I give them all a fresh start by repotting them. This weekend, I finally got around to it: hands in the soil, a few new plant pots scored from the local thrift store (sustainable and stylish!), and now everything is summer-ready. Thereโs something so satisfying about giving your plants a fresh space to grow in, donโt you think?
Mini-Greenhouse Round 2 ๐ป
Coming back to the office after that productive green weekend, I was greeted by some slightly sun -stressed plants – which was a bit of a downer after all that home gardening joy. But instead of getting discouraged, I turned it into motivation. I rolled up my sleeves, grabbed some seeds, and got the mini-greenhouse going again!
This time, I planted a fresh batch, including sunflowers – one of the best picks for this season. And guess what? Just a few days in, and I already spotted little green sprouts peeking out. ๐ฑ๐ป Itโs always a magical moment when the first signs of life appear.
