August feels like the ultimate summer: the first BBQs have happened, I happily wandered the market again for fresh summer veggies and fruit, and my little balcony in the bustling area of Rotterdam has officially become my own green corner. This month, I’m bringing the greenhouse completely home — no more quick office check-ins, just me, my windowsill, and a cozy little jungle of green around me.
New seeds, new chances 🌱🌿
This month, I started fresh by planting a new batch of seeds: pumpkin, red pepper, cucumber, zucchini, nasturtium, dill, and sunflower! This time, I planted everything in the mini-greenhouse, and honestly? I much prefer having it all cozy at home. After just two days, the pumpkin sprouted — faster than ever before! It really shot out of the soil. I was able to repot the two pumpkin seedlings into Grow Pots that same week, using a soil mix pellet. It’s a real game changer, as it keeps my hands cleaner and creates less mess than regular bagged soil.

Market treasures & fresh inspiration 🍑🥕
On Saturday mornings, I always go to the market at Rotterdam Blaak with my bestie. We stroll along the stalls and I often come back with colorful veggies, juicy fruit, and fresh herbs. A bag full of fresh produce inspires me to eat healthier and cook more creatively. Plus, it just feels good to support the local market and shop smartly, with fresh products that are often cheaper and fresher than in the supermarket.

Mini tip: Propagate mint? It’s that easy! 🌱🍃
If you buy a bunch of mint at the market, don’t use it all at once! Take a few healthy sprigs, put them in a glass of water in a bright spot (but out of direct sunlight). Change the water every few days. After 1 to 2 weeks, you’ll see little roots appear. Once they’re strong enough, you can plant them in a Botanian Grow Pot. That way, you can enjoy fresh mint for longer — perfect for refreshing tea or summer mocktails.

Final thought: Little green happiness, right in the city 🏡💚
Gardening doesn’t require a big garden or a complicated greenhouse. Whether it’s your windowsill, balcony, or mini-greenhouse: with a bit of time, love, and curiosity, you can create your own green paradise.
And how great is it that we finally got to use the tomatoes from July during a cozy BBQ with friends? Enjoying homegrown treats together makes summer get-togethers that much more special.
