The sun is shining, nature is at its best, and every day seems to offer a new opportunity to spend more time outdoors. Whether it's an early morning hike, a spontaneous picnic, a holiday with family, or simply enjoying dinner outside, these are the moments that make summer unforgettable.
In this month's blog, we're sharing a few of our favourite ways to make the most of the season and perhaps inspire you to create a few new summer traditions of your own.
Have you heard of summering?
It's one of those words that perfectly captures the feeling of this season. Summering isn't about ticking destinations off your bucket list or filling every weekend with plans. It's about embracing everything summer has to offer. Long evenings, spontaneous adventures, warm sunshine, and making time for the people who matter most.
August always feels like the heart of summer. Beach concerts that turn into late-night conversations. Festivals with friends. Last-minute barbecues. A picnic in the park simply because the weather is too beautiful to stay indoors.
One small reminder though: don't forget to drink enough water. Whether you're dancing at a festival, spending the day on the beach, or exploring a new city, warm weather asks a little more from your body than you might realise. Staying hydrated means you'll enjoy those long summer days even more.

Sometimes the best trip is the one that helps you slow down
Life can feel incredibly busy.
Work, cooking, sports, keeping up with the house, meeting friends, answering messages… before you know it, every day feels planned from morning until evening.
That's why taking a break matters.
Not because you have to travel to the other side of the world, but because stepping away from your routine gives your mind room to breathe.
For me, the perfect holiday has never been about nightlife or packed schedules.
This summer I travelled to Spain, where part of my family lives, to spend time with my grandmother. We started our mornings early, wandering through quiet streets before the heat arrived. We explored nature, hiked through the hills, spent afternoons reading on the beach and, most importantly, slowed down.
Some of my favourite memories weren't planned at all. They happened around the dinner table.
My grandmother taught me family recipes that have been passed down for generations. I filled my suitcase with fragrant Spanish saffron and other herbs to bring a little bit of that Mediterranean flavour back home.
Because let's be honest… food simply tastes different there.
Fresh tomatoes. Good olive oil. Jamón, queso and a simple bocadillo shared in the sunshine.
Sometimes the simplest meals become the ones you remember most.

Bringing summer home
Coming home doesn't have to mean leaving that holiday feeling behind.
In fact, my trip inspired me to grow more of my own ingredients at home. Imagine picking fresh tomatoes from your own garden before making your favourite summer sandwich.
With our Botanian Grow Pellets, getting started is wonderfully simple. Just add water, let the pellets expand and sow your tomato seeds. They provide a light, peat-free growing medium that gives young plants the best possible start.
Sometimes growing something yourself makes every meal taste just a little bit better.

Discover your own city again
Back in the Netherlands, another summer adventure was waiting for me: my new electric bike.
Suddenly, everything felt closer.
Instead of taking the car, I found myself cycling more often, discovering places I'd never really noticed before. My first ride? A beautiful 30-kilometre trip to the windmills of Kinderdijk.
It reminded me that you don't always need a holiday to experience something new.
Sometimes all it takes is choosing the bike instead of the car.
Pack a basket, bring your favourite snacks, don't forget a board game (Yahtzee is still my favourite), and spend an evening outdoors with the people you love.
Watch the sunset. Stay until the stars appear.
Those are often the moments you'll remember long after summer has gone.

Summer doesn't last forever
Before we know it, the evenings will become cooler, leaves will slowly start changing colour, and autumn will quietly arrive.
But that's exactly what makes summer so special.
So embrace the spontaneity.
Take that early morning walk.
Visit that local market.
Read the book you've been meaning to start.
Grow something.
Cycle somewhere new.
And above all, enjoy the season while it's here.
Happy summering. 🌿
